150 Years Of Discovery And Impact

In recognition of our 150th anniversary in February 2026, we launched the first university-wide timeline, encompassing milestones, breakthroughs, and evolutions of our campuses that date back to our inception. However, the entries ultimately featured are but a small cross-section of the incredible acts of ingenuity, innovation, and ideation that has defined all corners of this university.

Below, you will find additional resources that Hopkins Retrospective and Special Collections consulted in the development of this timeline. These include division-specific timelines, prior histories of Johns Hopkins, and exhibits and archives at the Johns Hopkins Sheridan Libraries. We encourage you to review these sources (among others) for an even more expansive snapshot of the countless moments in which the people of Johns Hopkins have advanced our mission over these past 150 years. We have linked these for easy access.
